Research Intake

Structured Oversight for Research Data Requests

Health systems worldwide are facing pressure to deliver better patient care and outcomes, at the same time that demand for health care is increasing and health resources are strained. By supporting areas of need for urgent seminal knowledge, IIHO and its partners are intensifying research efforts to inform effective strategies in improving patient health and health outcomes.

IIHO helps make healthcare research easier to navigate by bringing together difficult-to-access data, applying practical knowledge of system operations, and leveraging strong relationships across the health system. We provide data, trainees and work closely with both clinical and academic professionals. We welcome research applications for data extracts and/or to collaborate on research projects focusing on the below research priorities.

Data custodians of the IIHO data repository may request their own data at any time, apart from this research intake process. If the custodian wishes to link their data with data from other custodians, or have analysis completed for their data, the request will proceed through the research intake process.

Research priorities are intended to define areas of need for urgent seminal knowledge. Data extraction requests do not need to align with the priority areas, but requests for analytics or project management services must.

Research Priorities

01 Health System Design and Change Management

  • Centralized Intake
  • Multi-disciplinary Assessment
  • Referral Management
  • Current State
  • Care Pathways

02 Personalized Medicine

  • Shared Decision Making
  • Self-Management
  • Appropriateness

03 Remote Assessment/e-Health

Application Process

1. Consultation Service (Optional)

We provide up to 2 hours of complimentary initial project discussion and/or exploration into IIHO’s data repository. Through this process, IIHO can also provide letters of support for securing grant and funding support from other agencies prior to a research application with IIHO.

2. Submit Application*

Submit the application form on this page. Remit application fee of $500 online or by cheque payable to Institute for Improved Health Outcomes. Review of application will begin when payment is received.
