About Us

Company Background

At the Institute for Improved Health Outcomes (IIHO), we specialize in harnessing data and evidence to drive improvements in health care. With deep expertise collaborating across health systems and networks, we guide clinical practices, shape policy decisions, advance research initiatives, and promote knowledge exchange.

Founded in 2004 as the Alberta Bone and Joint Health Institute (ABJHI) and continued today as IIHO, we are committed to transforming health care by providing reliable information, optimizing processes, and supporting continuous improvement to ultimately elevate the quality of health care for all.

As an independent charitable organization, IIHO’s funding comes from service contracts, philanthropy, and foundation grants and programs.

Our Guiding Principles

01 Ethics

All our decision-making and actions must stand the test of moral and principled behaviour.

02 Integrity

Our actions and behaviour individually and collectively reflect our words. Honesty and sincerity form the foundation on which we build enduring relationships.

03 Collaboration

We recognize that health care is a shared responsibility and improvement in it requires a united effort.

04 Evidence

All change in health care should be supported by evidence that it improves quality of care in some way.

05 Respect

We see the reasoned expression of differences – in opinions, character and interests – as a sign of passion and a source of energy.

06 Accountability

We take ownership of our actions. We have the courage and confidence to hold ourselves accountable to our coworkers and to others with whom we interact. We know that in a healthy culture, improvement, not blame, is the purpose of accountability.
